A 77-year-old retired man was found dead with multiple stab wounds, including a fatal two-centimetre wound to the right side of his neck, at a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel on Thursday afternoon. Police have arrested his 73-year-old wife for murder.
Police said the couple, surnamed Kwan and Leung, were found unconscious by a hotel cleaner around 4pm in their room on Austin Road. They were rushed to hospital where the man was pronounced dead. His wife was admitted to a ward after treatment.
Officers found two suicide notes in the room stating the writer suffered from chronic illness and could not carry on. A blood-stained fruit knife and a two-centimetre table knife were also recovered at the scene. The man is believed to have taken sleeping pills before his death.
The wife, who had no visible injuries, was arrested. Police said the couple, married for 40 years, had no record of domestic violence. The Yau Tsim district crime squad is investigating.
