A 69-year-old man was left unconscious after his private car collided with two minibuses in Chai Wan on Tuesday evening.
The accident occurred at about 6pm on Wan Tsui Road near Wan Tsui Shopping Centre. The private car reportedly failed to stop in time and crashed into the rear of a parked minibus, pushing it into another minibus ahead.
The private car driver, surnamed Tong, was unconscious when taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for emergency treatment. The two minibus drivers, a 46-year-old mainland Chinese visitor surnamed Tang and a 33-year-old man surnamed Hung, were not injured.
Police said the two minibuses had stopped at a traffic light when the private car, bearing cross-border licence plates, approached from behind. The private car's front end sustained serious damage with its bonnet crumpled, while both minibuses suffered rear-end damage.
An investigation is ongoing.
