Hong Kong’s elderly aged 65 or above seized the opportunities of Senior Citizens Day on Sunday to enjoy a variety of complimentary transportation options and discounts.
Seniors could travel free of charge on the MTR, Light Rail, MTR buses, trams, and Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry services with the relevant identity documents.
The Peak Tram experienced a notable gathering of senior citizens, as one citizen, surnamed Hou, said she took advantage of the free ride to visit after many years.
Another citizen, surnamed Wan, who rides the Peak Tram once a year, praised the promotion and hopes for more similar initiatives.
Meanwhile, seniors aged 60 or above, along with one accompanying person, could enjoy free admission to the Hong Kong Science Museum, the Hong Kong Space Museum, and public swimming pools managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
Other promotions included same-day round-trip cable car tickets for Ngong Ping 360 at a discounted price of HK$30.
Additionally, over 400 organizations and merchants, representing more than 3,800 outlets, participated in the program by offering discounts or other concessions to seniors.
