As Hong Kong prepares to mark the 76th National Day, the city is launching a series of enticing discounts and offers across entertainment, transport, and dining to share the festive spirit with the public.
Half-priced movies and National Day leisure activities
In a celebration initiative, cinema tickets across the city will be offered at half price, supported by government subsidies covering 50 percent of the cost. The move is expected to attract around 190,000 moviegoers.
Adding to the festivities, many leisure facilities managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will offer free admission. Notable venues include Hong Kong Wetland Park and the regular exhibitions at the Hong Kong Science Museum and the Hong Kong Space Museum.
Residents can also enjoy free entry to public areas at the Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses, where food and beverage discounts will be available.
For families, Ocean Park is offering a 15 percent discount on general admission from October 1 to 5, while children can receive a 24 percent discount on Ngong Ping 360 cable car rides. Special souvenirs will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at Tai Kwun, The Peak Tram, and Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
Fireworks and celebrations
The holiday program will begin with a flag-raising ceremony at 8am at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai. This will be followed by a helicopter formation flypast by the Government Flying Service over Victoria Harbour at 9am.
A highlight of the celebrations will be a large-scale fireworks display over the harbour, themed “Victoria Harbour Fireworks Shine Across the Motherland,” featuring more than 30,000 pyrotechnic shells. The festivities will extend into the following evening with a cultural performance on October 2.
Discounted rides to festivities
To facilitate public participation, a range of public transport services will be free of charge, including all tram rides and select major ferry routes. Children will also enjoy free travel on designated daytime routes operated by KMB, Long Win Bus, Citybus, and New Lantao Bus.
Meanwhile, the MTR Corporation will give away 76,000 free single-journey tickets through a lucky draw, with prizes covering local, cross-border, and Airport Express trips.
Dining and shopping specials
The celebrations extend to retail and dining, with over 1,000 restaurants and popular chains—including Men Wah Bing Teng and Asam Chicken Rice—rolling out special promotions. The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel is also joining in, offering a 30 percent discount on its National Day buffet.
Shoppers can find further offers at the West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong International Airport, the Science Park, and over 100 shopping malls, which will feature various shopping, dining, and parking discounts.
From October 1 to 7, customers of “Local Fresh” can enjoy a 24 percent discount on selected products through its physical store, online shop, or mobile app.
Additionally, the Environmental Protection Department will offer double GREEN$ Points to members of the public who recycle at its GREEN@COMMUNITY recycling facilities on National Day.
