To mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, more than 1,000 Hong Kong restaurants and retailers are offering a series of festive discounts.
Major chains are leading the promotions, with Tai Hing, Men Wah Bing Teng, and Asam Chicken Rice offering a 30 percent discount for all dine-in customers throughout the day.
Other restaurants are introducing special menu items at a 30 percent discount.
Café de Coral, for instance, will offer a lunch set for as low as HK$39. The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel, which recently resumed operations after damage from Super Typhoon Ragasa, has joined the festivities with a 30 percent discount on its National Day buffet.
For those seeking quick bites, limited-time offers include KFC's crispy chicken for HK$10 per piece and Arome Bakery's red bean paste pancake for HK$10.1.
The celebrations extend beyond restaurants. Convenience stores will launch a three-day "buy-one-get-one-free" promotion on Americano coffee starting October 1. Meanwhile, Wellcome supermarkets will give a 10 percent discount to customers who spend over HK$80 on designated products.
Lawmaker Tommy Cheung Yu-yan, who represents the catering sector, noted the expansion of participating restaurants this year, highlighting the inclusion of soft meals for the elderly.
“I encourage citizens to dine out during these promotions. It would be a loss to miss these 30 percent off deals,” he said.
Cheung also called on mainland visitors to spend their long holidays in Hong Kong, where they can enjoy a lot more apart from the catering discounts.
