Cloudy day with few showers on first school day: HKO

The Observatory said it will be mainly cloudy with a few showers on Monday (Sep 1). 

There could be more showers with thunderstorms in some areas at first tomorrow, the forecaster added.

It noted that an upper-air disturbance would bring showers to the northern part of the South China Sea on Monday. With an anticyclone aloft strengthening gradually, the weather will be generally fine and very hot in the middle and latter parts of this week, but showers triggered by high temperatures will also affect the coast of Guangdong. 

A broad trough of low pressure is expected to bring unsettled weather to the central and northern parts of the South China Sea early next week, the weather watchdog added.
