With two weeks remaining before the AIA International Hot Air Balloon Fest Hong Kong, organizers have begun preparations, sending their signature panda balloon into the air for testing.
The festival itself is scheduled to run from September 4 to 7.
“Hot air balloons are a symbol of happiness, and I hope to bring this new element to everyone,” said Joey Chan, COO of organizer Grand Event Asia. “My team and I have already begun discussions with cities in the Greater Bay Area and Shanghai, with the aim of introducing hot air balloons and the low‑altitude economy to different cities, while also helping to boost Hong Kong’s economy,” she added.
The event's fuel supplier also emphasized their commitment to safety. Eric Chan, CEO of IP&E GBA Limited, stated they are working with the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department to secure all necessary licenses. “The on‑site storage of liquefied petroleum gas will be kept at a safe distance from the public, and qualified engineers will be stationed on site to ensure safety at all times,” he added.
