Jetstar Asia offers refunds and alternative flights to affected passengers amid wind-down plans

Singaporean budget airline Jetstar Asia, a subsidiary of Qantas, stated that it will continue operating flights over the next seven weeks, with flight frequencies gradually decreasing until the airline officially shuts down on July 31.

This came after the airline announced its wind down plan following over two decades of operations.

Passengers who have booked canceled flights will receive a full refund, while the airline will also try its best to arrange alternative flights with other airlines for the affected passengers.

Jetstar Asia was established in 2004, primarily focused on providing short- to medium-haul flights across the Asia-Pacific region.

The airline began offering direct flights between Hong Kong and Singapore in 2012, before expanding to provide flights between Hong Kong and Tokyo, Osaka, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

During a promotion period in 2017, round-trip flights to Tokyo or Osaka cost as low as HK$898, while round-trip flights to Singapore were priced at around HK$800. Flights to Vietnam were also as cheap as HK$600.

However, the airline suspended direct flights between Hong Kong and Singapore in 2018 and has not resumed since.
