No matter what your dream is, StellaLou's story may inspire you.StellaLou, a lavender bunny who aspires to be a dancer, is making her debut at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
To introduce its new character the resort has collaborated with the Hong Kong Ballet for the showing of StellaLou's Wonderful Wishes Ballet. The 30-minute show tells the story of the tenacious bunny, who works hard to realize her ballerina dreams.
"We're thrilled to bring this one-of-its-kind performance to life together with Hong Kong Ballet," said Michael Moriarty, managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
"The show celebrates the power of dreams, perseverance, and the support of friends that it takes to make dreams become a reality."
The dream-come-true journey must be challenging. Thankfully, StellaLou has her friends' support. Her cherished friends Duffy, LinaBell, and Gelatoni will join her on stage.
Just as StellaLou strives to become a ballerina, the dancers from the Hong Kong Ballet have adapted their classical style to fit in with the Disney style.
This performance marks the first time the resort and the ballet troupe are working together.
Said Linda Fung, vice-chairman of board of governors of Hong Kong Ballet: "We're honored to put on this show where one of StellaLou's dreams came to true-the very same dream of every ballet dancer."
The ballet comes off as almost effortless that you might be surprised to find out that the creative process for the 30-minute performance took more than a year.
StellaLou's dream journey is divided into three sequences: she practices pirouettes, overcomes obstacles, and finally realizes her dream of performing in a recital.
Septime Webre, artistic director at the Hong Kong Ballet, said: "We started by imagining what those dreams might look like. We didn't have to look far; we just looked back at our own career journeys.
"As we ourselves started by going to a big city and auditioning, we decided to begin the show with auditions, then go on to getting jobs and traveling the world seeking fame and fortune."
Along with choreography, the two teams had a lot of fun brainstorming the original theme songs.
Two catchy original songs - Believe and StellaLou are sure to get you humming and tapping your toes long after the performance.
Remember to bring something unique to witness StellaLou's growth. The park's gift shop has produced show-themed merchandise, including a ballet costume, hair band, shoulder bag , and a limited-edition pin in the shape of StellaLou's ballet slippers.
Seeing StellaLou overcome obstacles and realize one of her biggest dreams is inspiring. The take-home message the performers want to give their audience is that if we keep dreaming and working hard, we will be able to achieve our dreams as well.
StellaLou's Wonderful Wishes Ballet will be performed four to five times per day in Disney's Storybook Theater, over the Easter holidays and from April 14 to 16.
