Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) on Tuesday, HKUST will acquire or utilize non-residential spaces upon completion of the project.
The initiative aims to support the university's development goals, including expanding academic and research capabilities, driving innovation and technological development, and bolstering Hong Kong's position as a global leader in technological innovation.
Meanwhile, the URA will provide support to the university, leveraging the project's strengths to achieve shared development objectives.
The authority emphasized that the partnership highlights the unique integrated urban model of the project, which combines commerce, housing, trade, tourism, education, and research within a single development.
The collaboration will extend the impact of urban renewal by fostering growth across Hong Kong's present and future industries, it added.
