Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (0388) said on Monday that its board of directors has approved the renewal of the employment contract of Chief Executive Bonnie Chan Yi-ting for a further three-year term from March 1, 2027 to February 28, 2030, inclusive.
The Securities and Futures Commission has approved the appointment, HKEX said.
Under the terms of her employment contract for the reappointment, Chan's compensation package includes a basic salary of HK$12 million per annum – a 20 percent growth from the previous contract, and she is eligible to receive a performance-related discretionary bonus and share awards.
According to the 2025 annual results that disclosed the remuneration of its directors, Chan received a total annual compensation of as high as HK$37.78 million.
Chan's total remuneration for 2025 includes a salary of HK$10.30 million, other benefits of HK$336,000, a performance cash bonus of HK$11.694 million, retirement benefit contributions of HK$1.03 million, and share-based employee remuneration benefits of HK$14.424 million.
According to HKEX's appointment announcement in 2024, Chan's basic annual salary was HK$10 million. In other words, her salary last year saw an increase of approximately 3 percent.
Chan joined HKEX in January 2020 and became the Chief Executive and an Executive Director of HKEX in early 2024.
