Hong Kong stocks rise at the open

Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Wednesday, with HSBC (0005) advancing 2.2 percent after Hang Seng Bank's listing status ended in Hong Kong on the previous day.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 198 points, or 0.73 percent, at 27,325.

The Hang Seng Tech Index opened 0.56 percent higher at 5,786.

Major tech names gained at the opening, with JD.com (9618) adding 1.5 percent. Alibaba (9988) and Tencent (0700) increased 0.4 percent and 1 percent, respectively.
