Hang Seng launches $3b buyback after slump

Hang Seng Bank (0011) plans to launch a HK$3 billion share buyback program on Friday after its shares dived due to weak first-half results.

The period begins on Friday and runs through January 30, 2026.

The bank appointed Merrill Lynch International for its share buyback after posting a 30 percent slump in first-half net profit, causing its share price to dive 7.4 percent to HK$113.80 on Wednesday. It has since regained some losses, inching up 0.88 percent.
