TVB's current affairs program "Scoop" host and former Miss Hong Kong 2024 contestant Kanis Yu, 27, has revealed details of a serious car accident that occurred during Typhoon Signal No. 8, leaving her with severe arm injuries and her vehicle extensively damaged.
Yu described thinking she would die during the incident when her car skidded and crashed into a stone curb on Lung Cheung Road while she was driving to work. "The impact was tremendous even without speeding - all airbags deployed and smoke emerged both inside and outside the vehicle," Yu posted on Instagram. Passing drivers urged her to exit immediately fearing fire. Though disoriented with dizziness and ringing ears, she remained conscious and called police.
The host expressed gratitude to helpers who stopped to assist, calling the experience her first accident at 27: "At the moment of impact, I really thought I would die. It was terrifying but being able to walk away with minor injuries was fortunate amidst misfortune." She paid tribute to all workers operating in severe weather conditions.
Photos showed her white Tesla with significant right-front damage after hitting the curb. Another image revealed a serious T-shaped injury on her left arm where large skin areas were scraped away, which she humorously described as "gaining a Tesla tattoo." A hospital video captured the distressed host crying alone while masked, expressing fear after the traumatic incident.
