Truck passenger trapped after collision at Western District construction site

A truck collision at a construction site exit on Victoria Road in Western District on Tuesday afternoon left one passenger trapped with minor injuries.

The incident occurred around 2 pm when a truck traveling uphill collided with the rear of another truck exiting from a construction site near 86 Victoria Road.

Online photos showed severe damage to the front of the striking truck, with the passenger side nearly torn open and the windshield shattered.

A 20-year-old male passenger was trapped in the vehicle and required rescue by firefighters. He remained conscious during the ordeal, sustaining only leg abrasions, and was transported to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment.

The 48-year-old truck driver suffered minor finger injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
