A man in Shanghai was spotted lying naked on the ground amid a rainstorm -- with his private parts facing downward -- after the showering stall of a makeshift hospital was allegedly blown away.
A photo has been circulating on the internet, showing a naked man lying on the ground with the caption saying the man was taking a shower in a stall in a makeshift hospital when the rainstorm blew the whole showering stall away.
This came after other videos showed the howling wind pushed away motorcycles parked on the roads aside and rolled blue tents used for testing over the parking lot in the Covid-hit Chinese city.
The photo soon led to a heated debate among mainland netizens. Some joked that the man was “bathed in” not only the rain but also the attention of others, as some medics in protective gear were also spotted within the same frame.
Yet, some pitied the man and challenged why people at the scene didn’t offer any help but took the photo instead.
“We are all away from home, and why can’t we just help each other? Even giving him some clothes would be nice already,” one wrote.
Meanwhile, others commented that it was impossible for the man to get up and leave because he would have been blown away as well, adding others probably didn’t “save” him because of this safety concern.
However, some netizens questioned if the incident occurred in a showering stall in a makeshift hospital indeed, adding it would be embarrassing if the showering stall could be blown away that easily.
On the other hand, some netizens cited live sources and said the incident didn’t involve the showering stall in the makeshift hospital.
They claimed the man was having an emotional breakdown because of the extended quarantine, and he intentionally took off all his clothes and ran onto the rainy streets to vent his anger by rolling on the ground. The incident took place in the quarantine zone of a factory, they added.
Yet, the incident has not been verified by any Shanghai authority while more people call for a police investigation to see if anyone is spreading any fake news.
