Shaika Nasser Al-Nassr shared her fondness for Hong Kong, after having visited the city for vacation.
“I came for a vacation. I like Hong Kong,” Al-Nassr said. In addition to personal travel, she attended the International Cultural Summit last year in the city.
Having served at the Doha museum for 17 years across several roles, Al-Nassr, who is passionate about Islamic art and museology, took over as MIA director in February 2024.
She oversees a dynamic institution that hosts a variety of programs, including visits by school children, lecture series and film screenings.
The demanding nature of the role requires careful time management, particularly as she juggles her professional responsibilities with family life. “I have a family, I have two kids, so balancing the time of work and family is challenging. I have to manage my time to focus on both of these aspects properly,”
Despite some pressures, she still enjoys her job: “It’s a very interesting job and I’m thankful that I really like what I do. I do it from the heart.”
