S Korea parliament confirms Han Seong-sook as prime minister

South Korea's parliament approved the appointment of Han Seong-sook as prime minister on Tuesday, with 166 votes in favour and one invalid vote. The main opposition People Power Party boycotted the vote.

President Lee Jae-myung later presented Han with her appointment letter, making her South Korea's second female prime minister.

Han, who previously served as minister for small and medium enterprises, was described by the presidential office as the right person to lead AI transformation and achieve inclusive development. She was also the former chief executive of internet giant Naver.
