A Samsung Galaxy Ring owner was denied boarding and hospitalized after the device's battery began swelling while on his finger.
Daniel Rotar, a tech YouTuber, reported on social media that his ring's battery expanded as he prepared to board a flight. The device became stuck on his finger, causing pain and redness.
Rotar attempted removal methods using water, soap, and hand cream at the airport, but these reportedly worsened the swelling. Medical staff eventually removed the ring using ice and medical lubricant.

The incident caused Rotar to miss his flight and required hotel accommodation. Photos showed the battery had ballooned outward inside the ring.
A Samsung spokesperson called this "an extremely rare case" and confirmed they're contacting Rotar to retrieve the product and address concerns.
Social media responses expressed alarm, with some users reconsidering smart ring purchases. This recalls Samsung's previous battery issues with Galaxy Note 7 devices in 2017.
