A 65-year-old British tourist was severely injured in a violent attack in Pattaya after refusing services from four transgender individuals and declining to pay a demanded fee.
Duncan Hamish Kirkwood sustained multiple head lacerations during the incident that occurred early Friday morning at a South Pattaya condominium. Rescue teams provided emergency treatment before transporting him to the hospital.
According to police investigation, the altercation began when Kirkwood had arranged for two female companions but was instead met by four transgender women. After refusing their services, the group demanded 40,000 baht (approximately HK$9,800) as a "time fee."
When Kirkwood declined payment, an argument escalated into a physical attack where assailants used a machete against him. The British national managed to escape and seek assistance from building security while the attackers fled the scene.
Pattaya police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and locate the four suspects. Kirkwood remains hospitalized and will provide further statements once his condition stabilizes. The investigation continues as authorities work to apprehend those responsible.
