Hong Kong tennis player Coleman Wong Chak-lam advanced to the second round of the US Open men's singles qualifiers after defeating Luxembourg's Chris Rodesch 6-4, 6-2 on Monday.
The 21-year-old Wong, ranked 177th in the world, overcame his 159th-ranked opponent in straight sets at Flushing Meadows. After a competitive first set, Wong dominated the second to secure victory.
Wong, who exited in the second round of qualifying at the Australian Open and Wimbledon this season, now seeks to push further in the US Open qualifiers.
