Lawmakers demonstrate unity in green

It was all green in Legislative Council - from government officials to lawmakers. If that's the sign of unity Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu wanted, he has achieved it.

Prior to the policy address, Lee promised that he and members of his team would wear green ties or scarves designed by the Hong Kong Design Institute in the Legco yesterday.

To his surprise or not, male lawmakers showed up in ties with color akin to that of the Policy Address cover. Some also took selfies together.

Returned by the Election Committee, lawmaker Priscilla Leung Mei-fun put on a light-green suit jacket. Chan Hoi-yan wore a dark green dress and Doreen Kong Yuk-foon chose to echo the cover color in style with green jewels.

New People's Party lawmaker Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, left, tried to stand out from the rest with a green checkered suit whereas A4 Alliance lawmaker Connie Lam So-wai opted to match her dark green checkered suit jacket with a green scarf.

However, as Lee began his speech, eyes in the chamber were directed at him - or his green tie?

Meanwhile, yesterday was the first time for other staff members to watch live stream of the moment on a large LED panel in the Legco building's lobby.
