HKA students are intellectually curious, intrinsically motivated and interculturally minded global citizens. Our students enjoy an outstanding international education delivered by caring and knowledgeable faculty and go on to study at prestigious universities around the globe.
We support any student who is interested in completing the full IB Diploma (IBDP) to do so, have an inclusive admissions policy, and encourage students to pursue the pathway to graduation that best aligns with their interests, talents and post-secondary priorities. Candidates for the IBDP can earn a maximum of 45 points, and HKA students consistently outperform the world pass rate and average total points.
The graduating class of 2023 was HKA’s 12th graduating class. They surpassed global averages and achieved 100% IB Diploma pass rate, with 25% successfully completing a bi-lingual IB Diploma qualification. Their university and college application acceptance rates were over 70% and on average each student received 5 offers. The cohort also received nearly US$700,000 in scholarship offers and are moving on to pursue a diverse range of under-graduate degree courses including; ancient history, biomedical sciences, business, economics, e-sport management, fine and performing arts, law, sport science, psychology, and liberal arts.
Class of 2023 alumna Isabel Valenzuela joined HKA in Grade 1 and attended the school for 12 years. Isabel is a talented vocalist and singer, and also represented the school in local and regional volleyball competitions during her secondary school years. She graduated with a bi-lingual IB Diploma with Spanish, received 5 university offers and will be attending the University of Bristol where she will be studying a degree in Music with Innovation. We are excited about what lies ahead.
Class of 2013 alumni Suhail Bindra also joined HKA in Grade 1 and graduated with a ‘perfect’ IBDP score of 45. He earned his Bachelor of Laws, Postgraduate Certificate in Laws, and Professional Certificate in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education from the University of Hong Kong as an HKSAR Government Scholar, and obtained a Master of Public and International Law from Melbourne Law School, graduating with First Class Honours. After a brief stint working at a law firm, Suhail went on to work for non-profit organisations in the UK, Australia and Hong Kong and has taught business law, company law and corporate social responsibility at the HKU Business School. In his free time he advocates for and supports ethnically diverse school children by running legal education courses with an NGO called EmpowerU, is a board member at Migrasia Global Solutions Limited, an organization that advocates for ethical migration, and was also recently engaged by Justice Centre Hong Kong to run their summer refugee law education programme. He will commence his pupillage at Denis Chang's Chambers this year to train as a barrister in Hong Kong.
Suhail also serves as an alumni board member of HKA with a focus on school development, and is proud to promote the secondary school scholarship opportunities which the school offers. He shares that “HKA is characterised by its inclusiveness and willingness to put people first. I treasure the skills, values and ideas that my education gave me and encourage students who can demonstrate their aptitude and commitment to their communities through leadership, academics, sports, arts or service to apply to the scholarship programme.”
Every graduate of HKA can share stories of how they have been supported to meaningfully contribute to their local and global communities as part of their pathway to graduation. As musicians, artists, elite athletes, social activists, innovators, volunteers and leaders, HKA students are actively engaged in advocating for a better future.
