CUHK steps ahead in Polar science

The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Polar Research Institute of China signed a Framework Agreement for Strategic Cooperation to jointly promote polar science innovation.

The agreement was signed on Saturday during the China Symposium on Polar Science 2024, a premier annual academic exchange event for polar science and technology professionals nationwide.

It aims to leverage the strength of institutes to establish the Hong Kong Polar Science Innovation Centre, which will be a platform to connect Hong Kong with the mainland and the global community in the field of polar science and technological innovation.

CUHK's pro-vice-chancellor and vice-president (strategic developments) Chan Wai-yee and the deputy director of PRIC, Beichen Zhang signed the agreement on behalf of their respective academic institutions.

"This will provide opportunities for more HK researchers, especially young scientists, to participate in Antarctic research expeditions," said Chan.
