Former head coach of the Hong Kong squash team Tony Choi Yuk-kwan will become the new chief executive of the Hong Kong Sports Institute from January 1 next year.During his time as the head coach of the Hong Kong squash team, Choi established the elite Squash program, which helped the team win all seven gold and five silver medals at the 2009 East Asian Games. Choi was awarded a Medal of Honour by the SAR government in 2010.
Choi, currently the deputy chief executive of HKSI, has almost 25 years of experience at the institute.

Choi joined the HKSI executive leadership team as deputy chief executive in 2016.
Choi said he is honored to be appointed as the next chief executive of the institute, while HKSI chairman Tang King-shing praised Choi for his passion, dedication, and expertise in the development of elite sports and said that he was the ideal candidate to lead the institute forward in the face of challenges ahead.
