Stringing along on the UFO line

Strange blue lights hovering over Tuen Mun put a satisfying spin on the UFO scene, but like most weird and wonderful scenarios about visitors from other worlds the sighting soon blew into thin air.

Or, rather, they were jerked back to Earth.

For after a lively round of conjecture it turns out people were looking at kites.

The occurrence had looked real good when a video of blue objects in Sunday's night sky was posted on Facebook with the provider asking "Does anyone know what there are?"

Predictably there were answers about unidentified flying objects and starships.

There was also lighthearted banter about Vegeta and Goku from the Dragon Ball series visiting and on aliens coming to Hong Kong as Avatar 2 will soon be in cinemas.

But all of the guesses and supposedly expert readings were shot down when a Maggie Cheung delivered the message: "There's a man who often flies kites near Sam Shing Estate.

"Those long ones in the video are his kites."
