Elderly man, 86, dies after choking on bun in Mid-Levels

An 86-year-old man died on Sunday evening after reportedly choking on a bun while eating at his flat in the Mid-Levels, police said.

Police received a report around 7pm that the man, surnamed Cheung, had collapsed while eating at a unit on MacDonnell Road. He was found unconscious and rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause of death is pending a post-mortem examination.
