Henderson Land Development Group partnered with the Lee Shau Kee Foundation on Tuesday (Mar 17) to distribute 50,000 “blessing bags” to the public, commemorating its 50th anniversary and honoring the philanthropic legacy of its founder.
The date carried special significance, marking both the lunar birthday of the late Lee Shau-kee and the first anniversary of his passing.
The blessing bags, containing fragrant rice and nutritious soup packs to symbolize health and abundance, are distributed across 50 locations across multiple districts in Hong Kong.
Venues included several of the Group’s large-scale housing estates, all branches of Home Market, Towngas Customer Centres, and shopping malls under the Hong Kong Ferry Group.
Other distribution points included the North Point (East) Ferry Pier, Community Living Rooms in Prince Edward and Nam Cheong, Pok Oi Kong Ha Wai Village, as well as various courier stations that lent their spaces for the cause.
The initiative drew an enthusiastic response from over 200 volunteers across the group. Suen Kwok-lam, executive director of Henderson Land, also joined the efforts to hand out the bags.

"Dr. Lee was not only an outstanding business leader but also a highly respected philanthropist," said Suen. He highlighted that Lee cared deeply for society and gave generously without asking for anything in return.
This large-scale giveaway builds on Henderson Land's ongoing community initiatives. Since September of last year, the Group has been distributing vegetarian buns on the 1st and 15th of every lunar month at Home Market branches and the Prince Edward and Nam Cheong Community Living Rooms.
Coinciding with its 50th anniversary this year, Henderson Land has been rolling out a series of community and charitable events since mid-January, including charity runs, reunion dinners for the elderly, and community fun days.
In just the past two months, these initiatives have benefited over 70,000 individuals, encompassing the elderly, youth, sick children, and grassroots families.
The Group announced that it will continue to launch more exciting events and special projects throughout the year to celebrate its 50th anniversary with the public.
