A KMB driver on route 208 from Tsim Sha Tsui East to Broadcast Drive finished his shift late last night, but did not return the bus to Lai Chi Kok depot as required. Instead, he drove it privately along Route 6C starting from Hung Hom Walker Road, carrying passengers while not in uniform.
Netizens shared the incident in a Facebook group for bus fans. The driver later admitted to inspectors that he did it to “familiarize himself with route 6C” and to “do some extra work” during his free time.
KMB confirmed the incident occurred around 11pm yesterday. After investigation, the company immediately suspended the driver, then dismissed him under internal procedures, and reported the matter to the police. The bus was undamaged.
KMB stressed it will not tolerate any breach of law or company rules and will handle such cases seriously.
