A total of 615,000 trips were recorded during the Christmas holidays across all control points, with 312,000 outbound and 303,000 inbound journeys respectively as of 4pm on Saturday, according to immigration authorities.
Over 250,000 outbound journeys were made by Hong Kong residents, while 125,000 were mainland visitors and 146,000 were inbound Hong Kong residents.
Lo Wu emerged as the busiest, handling approximately 54,000 departures, of which about 49,000 were Hong Kong residents.
Moreover, Lok Ma Chau Control Point handled nearly 100,000 travelers, while the airport saw 90,000 passenger trips.
