A partial avalanche at the Kanas Scenic Area ski resort in Xinjiang last Thursday buried and killed one person, understood to be a Hong Kong resident.
The Immigration Department, upon receiving the assistance request, immediately coordinated through the Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing and provided advice and feasible support according to the family's wishes.
Two staff members from the Beijing Office's Immigration Division have arrived on site to assist the bereaved family.
The department will maintain close contact with the family and Beijing Office, actively following up and offering further help as needed.
