The Transport Department (TD) said it received more than 100 eligible applications from mainland authorities on the first day of the Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles scheme accepting submissions.
Applicants must complete all required procedures — including vehicle inspection, E-Contact Means (ECM) verification and insurance purchase — before submitting valid documents via the designated online platform.
Once applicants receive the electronic permits and approval letters issued by the TD, they must successfully book a border-crossing time slot before traveling.
Beginning at 12am on December 23, approved Guangdong private cars with confirmed reservations will be allowed to enter Hong Kong via the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge.
According to the TD, Guangdong authorities recorded 2,388 registrations in last month’s first-round computer ballot. Of these, 1,700 successful registrants began submitting applications on Tuesday. After preliminary vetting by mainland authorities, the information will be passed to the TD for further approval and licensing.
The department said it is working closely with mainland counterparts to speed up application processing, and reminded applicants to submit all required information in a timely manner to help facilitate approval.
