Police have arrested 14 people during a raid on an illegal arcade gambling den in Mong Kok on Wednesday.
Officers from the Mong Kok special duty squad targeted a unit on Tung Choi Street after thorough investigation and intelligence analysis under the operation codenamed FULLBOOM.
A 45-year-old local man was arrested for "operating a gambling establishment," while nine local men and four local women aged between 17 and 53 were arrested for "gambling in a gambling establishment."
Authorities confiscated five fishing game machines, HK$1,300 in cash and various gambling paraphernalia during the operation. All suspects remain in custody for investigation.
Police reiterated that both operating gambling establishments and gambling in such venues are serious offenses under Hong Kong's Gambling Ordinance, carrying maximum penalties of HK$5 million fines with seven years' imprisonment for operators, and HK$30,000 fines with nine months' imprisonment for gamblers.
