The launch ceremony today featured Jockey Club volunteers, apprentice jockeys, and top athletes leading gentle exercise sessions for beneficiaries while handing out the packs, in support of the upcoming 15th National Games.
Each package included daily necessities like a festive calendar, a foldable umbrella, bird’s nest with rock sugar, and rice vermicelli, plus new fitness items such as stress balls and resistance bands to encourage active lifestyles.
Raymond Tam Chi-yuen, the Jockey Club’s Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, joined athletes including Cheung Siu-lun and Vut Tsz-ying, Metro Broadcast CEO Steven Ma Chun-wai, and senior representatives on stage to promote regular exercise and share the rewards of volunteer service.
Tam emphasized that volunteer support is vital for the smooth running of the National Games, with nearly 100 Jockey Club staff members serving as group volunteers in the Hong Kong zone, backed by flexible company leave policies that allow them to assist during normal office hours.
He urged the public to attend the games, cheer for Hong Kong athletes, and help foster a citywide culture of fitness.
Later, Tam visited the beach volleyball village at Victoria Park, exploring the Jockey Club’s interactive booths.
The Jockey Club is the sole “partner organization” for the Hong Kong zone of the 15th National Games and Paralympic-style events, committing over HK$500 million to venues in both Hong Kong and Guangdong.
It funds volunteer programs, community and school outreach, and spectator experiences for disadvantaged groups and teens.
In Guangdong, the club provides technical expertise for equestrian events in Shenzhen and supports official activities, volunteer services, and promotion.
Additionally, through its sponsorship of the Hong Kong Sports Institute’s Jockey Club Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme, cash prizes will be awarded to Hong Kong medalists at the games.
