Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu began a five-day visit to South Korea on Tuesday, joining global leaders at the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting to foster global cooperation.
In a social media post, Lee expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received from Yoon Ji-wan of the APEC organizing committee, and Vice Mayor of Gyeongju City, Song Ho-Joon.
Aligned with this year's APEC theme, "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow," Lee plans to share Hong Kong’s experiences in attracting investment and promoting the application of artificial intelligence.
His itinerary includes the APEC Economic Leaders' Informal Dialogue with Guests and the ABAC Dialogue with APEC Economic Leaders on Friday(Oct 31), followed by the APEC Economic Leaders' Retreat on Saturday(Nov 1).
Emphasizing the opportunity for bilateral meetings with leaders from other economies, Lee expressed eagerness to strengthen relations, enhance practical cooperation, and create more development opportunities and collaborative spaces for Hong Kong.
Following the APEC meetings, the city leader will return to Hong Kong on November 2 before leading a delegation to Shanghai on November 4 for the China International Import Expo, which opens on November 5.
