Hong Kong’s football team is gearing up for a crucial AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Bangladesh tonight at 8pm at the Kai Tak Sports Park, with all tickets officially sold out.
The pre-match buzz was palpable hours before kick-off, as fans flocked to the official pop-up store near Sung Wong Toi MTR Station. Demand was so intense that commemorative cups and towels printed with the popular local slogan “Go, HK Team!” sold out more than four hours before the game.
The sell-out left some supporters disappointed. One fan, who said he began following the team just one or two months ago, arrived hoping to “try his luck” but couldn’t get his desired items.
He said he planned to head to the stadium’s merchandise booth to buy a supporters' t-shirt instead, expressing hope for a “3–0 victory.”
Tonight’s fixture marks only the second time Hong Kong has played at the new Kai Tak main stadium. The Hong Kong Football Association earlier announced that a new Tifo will be unveiled during the match.
Fans are being encouraged to take part in the act — part of a broader push to build and pass on a vibrant, united fan culture in Hong Kong’s football scene.
