Mainland woman arrested in sting operation for cross-border shopping service

The Immigration Department has arrested a 36-year-old mainland woman for allegedly violating her stay conditions by providing cross-border shopping services.

During an earlier online patrol, investigators identified multiple posts on mainland social media platforms advertising cross-border purchasing services. Undercover officers posed as customers to inquire about and book these services, subsequently intercepting the service providers.

The arrest was made on Monday. The department warned the public to remain vigilant when purchasing seasonal items during the upcoming holidays, advising against using unknown online services for convenience or lower prices to avoid breaking the law.

A new hotline "3861 5000" has been established for reporting illegal worker activities.
