HK braces for impact as Ragasa threatens Guangdong coast as super typhoon

Tropical Cyclone Ragasa is forecast to intensify rapidly over the coming days as it moves toward the Luzon Strait, potentially strengthening into a Super Typhoon.

According to the latest meteorological projections, the powerful storm is expected to enter the northern part of the South China Sea early next week and approach the coast of Guangdong by midweek.

The Hong Kong Observatory has warned that weather conditions in the region are likely to deteriorate significantly as the system draws nearer.

Strong to gale-force winds, heavy squally showers, and frequent thunderstorms are anticipated. Seas are expected to become very rough with high swells, posing serious risks to marine activities and coastal infrastructure.

A notable concern is the potential for significant storm surge, which could lead to flooding in low-lying coastal areas. Residents are urged to monitor the situation closely and take necessary precautions.
