Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) has introduced a new parade that features a total of 11 floats, alongside a special anniversary edition of its nighttime spectacular, in celebration of its 20th anniversary.
The theme park began its year-long anniversary celebration on Saturday (June 28), with more than 1,000 guests — including celebrities, content creators, media, and partners from across Asia and the U.S. — gathered along Main Street, U.S.A., brimming with excitement.
The celebration will also bring the resort's largest-ever parade, "Friendtastic!", and a special edition of the "Friendtastic!" nighttime spectacular.
The brand-new parade will feature more than 100 performers, including more than 30 beloved Disney friends and 11 dazzling floats, bringing an unforgettable party from Castle Hub to Main Street, U.S.A.
There is also a Walt Disney Animation Studios Zootopia-themed float that features a Hong Kong-inspired skyline.
The nighttime spectacular will dazzle with eight multimedia elements, including extended large-scale 3D projections, synchronized drone choreography, illuminated water projections, choreographed water fountains, flames, lasers, theatrical lighting, and pyrotechnic effects.
Nearly 200 all-new scenes will be included in the enhanced nighttime spectacular. As the prelude reaches its conclusion, a glowing "2" and Mickey head come together to form the signature 20th anniversary logo.
The anniversary-only concert-like show, "Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle!", will also be held at the front of the Castle of Magical Dreams and featuring stellar visual effects and gigantic props.
Guests can dance and groove alongside Disney's characters, all wearing never-before-seen party attire.
Separately, the theme park has donated 200,000 park tickets to local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in celebration of its 20th anniversary.
HKDL noted that, on average, it provides over 100,000 complimentary theme park tickets annually to those in need, and the number is expected to double this year.
"Disney is known around the world for exceptional storytelling, and Hong Kong Disneyland is a shining reflection of that," said Jill Estorino, President and Managing Director of Disney Parks International. "It has become the tourism flagship, the largest employer in the tourism and family entertainment industry, and a source of happiness for so many."
Managing Director of HKDL Michael Moriarty noted that the anniversary "marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter" and the theme park will continue to enchant and inspire guests from all around the world.
The resort recorded a historic high of 7.7 million visitors last year, expecting the celebration to bring visitors new experiences and attract more visitors to the city.
