Graduates from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) earned the most among the eight University Grants Committee (UGC) universities, with Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) seeing the most growth in their salaries, according to a survey conducted by the University Grants Committee (UGC).
The UGC revealed today that the average annual salary for UGC graduates of the 2022/23 academic year was HK$314,000, a year-on-year increase of 3.6 percent.
The results stated that HKU graduates had the highest annual salary, reaching up to HK$385,000, while the lowest annual salary belonged to Lingnan University (Lingnan) graduates, who only earned a yearly salary of HK$238,000.
In terms of growth, the HKBU alumni saw their annual salaries grow from HK$237,000 to HK$259,000, with a 9.3 percent growth, followed closely by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) graduates, who saw a 6.9 percent growth in salary from HK$274,000 to HK$293,000.
Lingnan alumni also saw a growth of 5.9 percent, with their annual salary increasing from HK$225,000 to HK$238,000.
Other universities instead saw a lower amount of growth, with City University of Hong Kong (CityU) graduates seeing the lowest growth of 0.4 percent from HK$268,000 to HK$269,000.
However, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) graduates were the only graduates to not see growth in their annual salary, with their graduates instead seeing their annual salary decrease from HK$321,000 to HK$320,000, a slight decrease of 0.3 percent.
