Sino Group answers government's call to boost economy with Christmas Market

In response to the Hong Kong government's efforts to revive the local economy, Sino Group will host the inaugural “Christmas Car Boot Market” beginning today, December 8. The market will take place each weekend in December as well as over the Christmas holiday at the dolphin pool platform garden in China Hong Kong City.

Through innovative activations, the market offers memorable experiences for both local residents and overseas visitors. Not only does it hope to uplift Hong Kong's economy, but it also aims to support local artisans and small businesses. By providing a platform for sellers to offer their sustainable and eco-conscious products, the market cultivates a lively and festive spirit for the community to experience this celebratory season.

Through innovative events, the Group aims to attract visitors and stimulate local spending.”

Christmas holds deep traditional significance for Sino Group. For four decades, the Group has illuminated the holidays through vibrant light displays at their Tsim Sha Tsui Centre, Empire Centre and Mody Lane properties. Many Hong Kong families have treasured memories of taking in the dazzling spectacles while strolling through East Tsim Sha Tsui over the years.

Chhoa mentioned that this year, Sino Group has invited acclaimed British visual light artist Rupert Newman to design a vibrant multimedia light projection installation for Sino Group’s light and project murals. This will enhance their traditionally festive exterior building illuminations at properties like Mody Lane, Sino Plaza and China Hong Kong City.

“It's encouraging to see the tourism industry launching new holiday experiences, like open-top bus light tours and Victoria Harbour cruises centered around the illuminations and dinner, as well as buy-one-get-one-free deals. We hope that taking in the decorations and visiting the market become beloved Christmas traditions for Hong Kong communities,” Chhoa added.

Drawing inspiration from similar UK-style markets, the “Christmas Car Boot Market” will feature clusters of vehicle owners showcasing a variety of goods from their car trunks. Running from December 8 through each weekend this month on the 10, 16 and 17, as well as over the Christmas holidays from the 23 through the 26 and concluding on the 30 and 31, the market will be located at the dolphin pool platform garden in China Hong Kong City.

Across 11 action-packed days, vehicle owners will showcase artisanal crafts, pre-loved fashion, food items and more directly from their vehicle boots, while taking in the gorgeous Victoria Harbour views and festive atmosphere. Shoppers can also enjoy live music performances on-site. Additionally, weekend visitors can enjoy the spectacular fireworks displays erupting over the water in the evenings.

To share the festive joy with the public and promote the “World of Winners” flight ticket offers, Hong Kong International Airport has partnered with Hong Kong Express Airways to hold the “Christmas Car Boot Market – Flight Ticket Lucky Draw” at China Hong Kong City.

Participants are not required to make any purchases to enter the free lucky draw, though the airline tickets awarded do not include applicable taxes, fees, and additional charges. The big lucky draw will be held each day throughout the market run, with the winning results announced at 9:15 pm.

In total, over 580 airfares will be gifted, covering popular destinations like Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam. This represents a rare chance for visitors to potentially fly to these locales free of charge.
