The FIVB Volleyball Nations League made a highly anticipated return to Hong Kong this month after a four-year absence, with eight world-class women’s teams captivating audiences at a packed Hong Kong Coliseum.

To celebrate the return of the international sporting event, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, as its Official Community Partner, supported the Jockey Club Community Volleyball Programmes, allowing the public, students and the disabled to enjoy the world-class volleyball event together during the games and through related activities.
The Programmes included various activities aimed at generating greater public awareness and interest in volleyball. Among them was the In Touch with the China Volleyball National Team event, which gave members of the public, students and visually impaired community members the chance to experience the national women’s team's practice sessions and engage with the players.
Free admission to the matches was offered to members of the public, students and the disabled, with visually impaired attendees receiving assistance from professional audio-description services. Meanwhile, students operated stalls in the piazza outside the Coliseum during the tournament on the themes of sports and the eight participating teams, to promote cultural diversity and give the students insights into the sports industry. An upcoming programme in August, Enjoy Sitting Volleyball “As One”, is intended to maintain enthusiasm for the sport and promote social equity, as students and disabled players take part in the activity together.
The Jockey Club is a long-time supporter of sports development in Hong Kong, promoting both community and elite sports. The Programmes aligns with its commitment to ensuring that everyone can enjoy sports regardless of age, background or ability. The Programmes’ funding is made possible by the Club's unique integrated business model, through which racing and wagering generate tax and charity support for the community.
Local students had the chance to be coached by Yuan Xinyue (2nd right) and teammates under the community programmes. Yuan was named the most popular China team player and received a souvenir from Deputy Secretary for Justice Horace Cheung (2nd left), Club Steward Dr Silas Yang (1st right) and President of the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China Wilfred Ng (1st left).
The Jockey Club Volleyball Community Programmes included the “In Touch with the China Volleyball National Team” event on 10 June. Some participating students also had an opportunity to join master classes coached by China team players.
