The Chinese University of Hong Kong was said to be prioritizing vaccinated students over those who did not in its annual hostel room selection, according to a university email circulating online.
An email from a CUHK college was posted to a Facebook group named “CUHK Secrets” earlier, in which the email wrote “fully vaccinated students will be prioritized” in its annual hostel room selection, with results to be announced in July.
The email stated that unvaccinated students will room with other unvaccinated students only if space allows, and their access to common space may be limited.
It also wrote that the university may announce additional requirements for unvaccinated students.
According to reports, the office of CUHK’s Postgraduate Halls earlier emailed its residents, urging them to get the jab or they will have to undergo Covid tests every fortnight at their own cost.
It added that those who refuse to do so will risk the qualification of their hostel stay.
The office later clarified that they are calling on students to get the jab only based on government recommendations.
