Open ecosystems accelerate AI commercialisation, Q3 marketing services revenue up 21pc, Tencent Cloud

Open ecosystems are helping unlock the real-world value of artificial intelligence by enabling enterprises and consumers to choose from a diverse range of large models, said Dowson Tong, senior executive vice-president of Tencent (0700) at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Tong noted that the development of artificial intelligence should not be confined to a single "super system", but should instead involve many different models that serve different purposes. He said Tencent Cloud's AI strategy focuses on building "model-agnostic" tools, enabling customers to flexibly choose the most suitable models.

Tencent's 2025 third quarter financial report showed that AI has become a key growth driver for Tencent's performance. In the third quarter of 2025, AI contributed to a 21 percent year-on-year increase in marketing service revenue, while gaming revenue rose 22.8 percent. 

Tencent Cloud is the cloud computing and AI services arm of Tencent, serving clients across sectors including finance, retail, gaming and healthcare.
