XPeng (9868) expects its first flying car to receive airworthiness type certification in the fourth quarter and launch next year, a co-founder of its flying car affiliate said.
Wang Tan, co-founder and chief designer of XPeng AeroHT, said the modular flying car, named the “Land Aircraft Carrier,” will be priced at no more than US$300,000 (HK$2.34 million) in mainland China, with an annual sales target of 10,000 units, Wang said.
Wang added the company will complete its mass production facility and kick off pre-sales in the third quarter.
Wang also said that the flying car will first be sold in mainland China, with plans to expand to the Middle East and other overseas markets at a later stage.
Meanwhile, XPeng’s self-developed AI smart driving chip is set to begin mass production in the second quarter of this year, with the chip debuting in the company’s new model, according to mainland media 36Kr.
