EV-maker XPeng confident about further global expansion

Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng’s (9868) products continue to be well received in many international markets, giving the company more confidence to expand its global footprint, president Brian Gu Hongdi said on Wednesday.

Gu said XPeng should not be seen as “just another budget Chinese brand,” arguing that its focus on mid-to-high-end, tech-driven vehicles sets it apart from rivals.

When discussing XPeng’s development in Europe, Gu said the company is now the top-selling Chinese EV maker in the €40,000 (HK$353,116) price segment.

“The company sees Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America as its core regions, and plans to allocate more resources this year to around 10 to 12 key markets,” Gu said.
