Unlike Michelin-starred restaurants, the Bib Gourmand distinction recognizes establishments that offer “good quality, good value cooking,” typically allowing diners to enjoy a three-course meal for around HK$400 or less. Since its introduction in 1997, the category has celebrated restaurants that showcase authentic flavors and culinary craftsmanship without the premium price tag.

The latest additions span a range of cuisines, from traditional Cantonese and Teochew dishes to international favorites such as Neapolitan pizza, Thai comfort food and Singaporean laksa. Together, they highlight Hong Kong’s reputation as a city where local heritage and global flavors thrive side by side.
1. Dragons’ Den
Located in Wong Tai Sin, Dragons’ Den is a revival of the former Bib Gourmand restaurant Man Yuen Restaurant, reopening under a new name at the same location. The restaurant’s nostalgic décor features hand-painted dragon motifs, bamboo lampshades and vintage-style furnishings that evoke the charm of old Hong Kong dining halls.
The menu focuses on traditional Cantonese dishes, including wok-fried specialties, seasonal seafood and claypot classics. A standout dish is the pearwood-smoked aged pigeon, dry-aged for five days before being smoked to produce crispy skin and tender meat with a rich aroma. Another recommended item is the baked fish intestines with egg, a nostalgic Cantonese delicacy known for its smoky fragrance and savory flavor.

Using Wuchang rice for its fragrant grains and house-rendered pork lard for added richness, dishes are finished tableside with aromatic oil and soy sauce before the crispy rice crust is mixed in.
