The junior Yeung, 36, who is a member of the 13th Political Consultative Conference of Beijing City, will assist his mother, Emperor International's chairwoman Semon Luk Siu-man, according to an exchange filing yesterday.
Yeung joined Emperor in 2009 as a corporate executive and has gained thorough comprehension of its operations through participation in various business divisions of the group, the filing said. He was appointed as the executive director of Emperor International in May 2018 and has since been actively involved in the management of its overall businesses, it stated.
For over the past decade, Yeung has undertaken responsibility in evaluating new business opportunities and strategic planning for Emperor International, bringing new visions into various property and hotel projects.
With the diversification of Emperor's businesses and an increasingly challenging economic environment, Yeung, in his new role, will be tasked to sharpen the group's vision with an open approach.
He is also a board member of Emperor Foundation and the executive vice-chairman of Hong Kong United Youth Association.
"My appointment comes at a meaningful time when the Emperor Group is celebrating its 80th anniversary," said Yeung in a separate statement. "As I take the helm of the group as its third-generation leader, I will continue to add value to our group by creating synergy across the business units in our ecosystem, and by identifying every opportunity for sustainable development."

Alexander Yeung has been with the group since 2009.
