Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index stood above 27,000 points on the first trading day of October, despite the absence of mainland investors during the ongoing Golden Week.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened at 26,918, 62 points or 0.23 percent higher than the previous close.
The indicator then extended gains to 27,189 points, hitting a new high for over four years.
Kuaishou (1024) jumped over 6 percent and SMIC (0981) leapt over 3.9 percent as of 10.03 am.
The tech gauge also advanced to 6,483, 0.27 percent higher from the previous close.
