Bank of East Asia's Spanish director resigns

Bank of East Asia (0023) said Isidro Fainé Casas, a non-executive director and a member of the nomination committee of the bank, has resigned from his position in light of the coronavirus  pandemic and the distance between Spain and Hong Kong.

Fainé Casas is  the chairman of the board of trustees of the Caixa d’Estalvis i Pensions de Barcelona “la Caixa” Banking Foundation, the second-largest shareholder of the company.

Fainé notes that it is increasingly difficult to devote the time and effort necessary to maintain the same levels of commitment amid the current situation, and the bank has engaged him as a special advisor.
